Neiden is a small strung-out and magnificent village west from Kirkenes. Here one can find an exciting cultural heritage with Neiden church, the orthodox St. George’s chapel and the Skolt Sami Museum as main attractions. Journey by buss from Kirkenes to Neiden (40 km) along the Munkefjord. A fascinating fjord landscape and a lively birdlife on the shore. In Neiden we pass the orthodox St. George’s chapel, established in 1565. We take a photo stop at the waterfall Skoltefossen and visit the Neiden church (if open). Tour includes a 45 min visit at the Skolt Sami Museum (open in 2016). The main aspect of the museum is: Skolt Sami culture, language and identity, as well as disseminate knowledge of Skolt Sami past and present.
We continue by bus to the small fishing village Bugøynes. The location is spectacular and it is the only place which was not burnt by the German troupes during the 2. WW. Here is a lot of history to experience and you can take a walk along the sandy beach (you can even take a bath in the Ice ocean!) We get served a local fresh lunch at Bugøynes Bistro, and of course it will be fish on the menu. Bugøynes and its dramtic history, fishing, local fresh fish for lunch. This tour is a bus sightseeing with local guide.
