09.30 Pick up at Hurtigruten/Havila pier or hotel in Kirkenes ACTIVITY: KIRKENES SIGHTSEEING AND BORDERLAND WITH VISIT AT SNOWHOTEL with local guide. In only 2,5 hours you get presented all highlights in Kirkenes. A guided trip by bus through Kirkenes, to the Russian border and the famous Snowhotel. Included is also guiding about Kirkenes, the way of living up here, the local history and our relations with Finland and Russia. Tour with a personal touch and a local guide.
Programme: First we take a Kirkenes sightseeing with stop at a viewpoint. We continue to the crossing point Storskog on the border between Norway and Russia. Your guide will provide information on the various historical events which took place in this area. Next stop is Kirkenes Snowhotel. Visit this cold world with its`beautiful ice sculptures. You can visit all the rooms, take pictures and order a hot beverage in our cafe. We also own a dog yard where you can cuddle with our dogs, or you spend some time with our reindeers roaming around the area. Total time at snowhotel app 1 hour.

13.00 ACTIVITY: KING CRAB SAFARI INCL FRESH LUNCH King Crab Safari by snowmobile sledge on the ice (an experience in itself). King Crab catch and delicious king crab meal will be served on this tour. A totally unforgettable experience awaits you on the frozen fjords of Kirkenes. This is your chance to catch, learn how to cook, and most importantly eat this mysterious creature. The Arctic King Crab is one of the most sought after meals in top restaurants, and yet here, you get to eat the best and the freshest, pulled from the fjord in front of your eyes. The journey will culminate in a warm, rustic farmhouse restaurant by the fjord, where you will enjoy a feast, served the Norwegian way – fresh, juicy and irresistible! The portions are 4 claws per person, so no one will leave the table hungry.
NOTE: In the beginning and the end of the season (Dec and April), the tour may go by boat, if the ice conditions are not suitable for snowmobile.

16.30  Join the SAMI EXPERIENCE: The Sami are the indigenous people of arctic Scandinavia, and were the first one to inhabit the Barents and Kirkenes region thousands of years ago, following herds of reindeer, which was their main sustenance. Many Sami in Norway are still reindeer herders, and in Kirkenes municipality there are 10 000 reindeer – as many as there are people! Join Sami artist John Henrik Mienna for a 1 hour journey. We will start by meeting our 4 majestic reindeer. You will learn about reindeer and feed them from your hand with their favorite tundra food; lichen. The journey will continue into our reindeer pen, where we will walk up to our Lavvu – Sami tent.
Here by the campfire, you will hear stories about the Sami, both from folklore and from John Henriks own experiences, culminating with a performance of “Joik” – the unique Sami art of singing.
